TRADITIONAL SERVICES
Traditional funeral services takes the form of care and preparation of the deceased with a visitation and funeral service to follow. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home can accommodate many special requests to assure that the funeral service you choose will best reflect the memory of the deceased. Modern video memorials, memorial displays and use of family photographs along with mementos bring a sense of appreciation to the life of the one who has gone on before, rather than simply marking the event of the death. The use of the lounge area to gather and share memories make the visitation period more of a celebration of the person’s life, while maintaining the respect and courtesy loved ones deserve. A traditional funeral service can be held at the funeral home, your church or other facility with burial to follow. You can also opt for the same type of service with cremation to follow. CREMATION SERVICES
Cremation services offers many options, some of which are new to most individuals. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home can provide a traditional viewing and funeral service if desired prior to cremation. The use of economical caskets or a ceremonial casket are available to accommodate these services. Following cremation, families can opt for interment (burial) rites or may take the urn into their own possession depending on their wishes. Many urns are designed for both interment or home use.

A second type of cremation service is cremation with a memorial service to follow. A memorial service is a type of funeral – without the body present. The urn may or may not be present at the memorial service and burial can take place, if desired, following the memorial service. Military rites can be done for an urn at the funeral home or elsewhere. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home has a covered carport in front of the building which is appropriate for a “committal” service which can be performed to give a sense of closure to the services.

The final type of cremation service is direct cremation with no service. With this service, the body of the deceased is removed from the place of death and cremated. An urn is then presented to the family or delivered to the cemetery. No ceremony or other public viewing is held.

The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is certified by the Cremation Association of North America in Crematory Operator training and the Matthews Cremation Group for the operation of the crematory they use in Nevada, Iowa. They personally attend to all cremations so that families can be assured of professional cremation services.

The Mitchell Family Funeral Home offers pre-arrangement of services for anyone who would like to ensure their funeral wishes will be met. Individuals often choose to fund a pre-arrangement so that family and friends can be rid of financial concern. We encourage you to explore this valuable service for yourself or your loved ones.

We make every attempt to make our facility warm and inviting, however, we know that your home is more so. We would be glad to visit with you in your home or at the funeral home, daytime or evenings. Prearranged funds are placed in an accredited policy and are protected in an irrevocable trust. Our prearrangements also come with a child/grandchild/great-grandchild protection plan and can be set up on payment plans that are comfortable for you.
