Wayne LeRoy Edwards was born August 31, 1929, the second son to Harold & Edith (LeFevre) Edwards, in rural Tama County.  He grew up in the Tama/Toledo area graduating from Toledo High School in 1947.  As a young man he farmed in the area taking care of his mother and two younger brothers.  Later he worked for several Chevy dealerships as a parts man, retiring from Loots-Manning.

On November 11, 1951, he married Fern Michael and raised 5 children.  They lived in the Tama/Toledo area then moved to Ames and Waterloo before settling in Marshalltown.  While here he was a member of the Marshalltown Police Reserve for 22 years, a member of First Baptist Church, Marshalltown  Center Mall Security, and was an avid car guy belonging to the Restorers Club.

Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family.  They had many trips camping at Shady Hills in Tama and Black Hawk Park in Waterloo.  He also enjoyed spending time at the drag strip in Cedar Falls , was a starter at NEITA Raceway in Cedar Falls, enjoyed old cars and attending swap meets.   Above all Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family and will be dearly missed.

Left to mourn his loss is his wife of 60 years, Fern, of Marshalltown, his five children: Pam (Gary) Killion Marshalltown, Vicki (Don) Hatch of Keni, Alaska, Doug (Sandi) Edwards of Marshalltown, Carol (Mike) Smolik of Albion, and David (Peggy) Edwards of Marshalltown, his fourteen grandchildren:  Serina, Chanda, Nicholas, Aaron, Josh, Ashley, Brennon, Carmen, Edie, RaeAnn, Michael, Samantha, Tanner, Alley and Dustin. his five great-grandchildren:  Joey, Lilly, Adelyn, Parker and Jalen, his brothers: Lyle of Gladbrook and Gary of Garwin, many friends and his beloved dog Pepper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, his older brother Melvin, an infant daughter Susan and his sister-in-law Patricia Edwards.
