The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is proud to be a part of the Central Iowa area. We support many local causes, mainly those of non-profit organizations and events involving child involvement. We strongly believe in supporting our community in any way we can. Here are some of the ways we believe in giving back to our hometown:

• We are a major contributor and sponsor of the Iowa River Hospice new house off of East Southridge.
• We sponsor two scholarships in memory of Sue Mitchell. One is for Marshalltown Community College and the other is for the State of Iowa regarding mortuary science.
• Sponsoring Ethan’s Tractor Run, Relay for Life, Night of the Stars, East Marshall, West Marshall and Marshalltown After-Proms, among others.
• Rose Festival and Oktemberfest parade sponsors and entries.
• Student “job shadow” sponsors for all area school districts.
• Student practicum student job positions for DMACC students.
• Memberships in the National and Iowa Funeral Directors Association, Professional Car Society, British Institute of Embalmers, American Society of Embalmers – all keep us informed of new services and products that refine our skills and offer the public better funeral care. We were the recipients as were few other funeral homes in the State of Iowa for the 2008 Award of Excellence from the Iowa Funeral Directors Association. Currently, Marty Mitchell serves on the Board of Mortuary Science of the State of Iowa.
• We financially support many local organizations that do a great job in our community as well. We’re proud they call Central Iowa home as do we.
• All of our staff enjoy visits from schools, churches, social and fraternal groups, activities, etc. We offer tours, speakers, etc for a variety of events.
