MARTY MITCHELL
Marty was born in Marshalltown, the son of M. Dean and Mary (Chrisman) Mitchell. He graduated from Marshalltown High School, Marshalltown Community College and finally the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago in 1990. Marty returned to his hometown and was employed with the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home for 17 years until starting the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with his wife Sue (Fisher) in 2004. Sue passed away after a battle beginning with breast cancer on September 6th, 2005.

Sue and Marty were blessed with son Myles, daughter Stephanie (Curt) Balmer of Green Mountain and their daughter Haley. Myles enjoys his school (Anson), the AWANA program at Center Street Baptist, dinosaurs, animals, his dogs Sammy and Chewbacca, riding his bike with friends, swimming and Cub Scouts.

Marty is a member of the Center Street Baptist Church, Marshalltown Chamber of Commerce, BBB, Iowa and National Funeral Directors Association, Federated Funeral Directors of America, Funeral Ethics Association, Marshalltown Evening Lions Club, The British Institute of Embalmers, American Society of Embalmers, National Assocaition of Funeral Directors (England), Professional Car Society, Antique Car Association, Marshalltown Auto Restorers, and has served on the boards of Iowa River Hospice and Compassionate Friends. He enjoys reading, traveling and collecting historical artifacts relating to funeral service. His true passion, though, is assisting all families through this journey in their lives with professional guidance and personal friendship. Marty was blessed with a born knowledge of many in the community and understands family values. Many generations of his family have resided in Marshalltown, State Center/Melbourne and the Union/Whitten communitites.
